Flavorful puff pastries, herring with all sorts of sauces, cheeses, and smørrebrød—get ready to sample everything Danish cuisine is rightfully proud of in one day! We’ll walk through central Copenhagen, from a 17th-century bakery to a shop where the royal family shops. And, of course, we’ll generously pepper the walk with stories and anecdotes from the lives of Danes.
A delicious stroll—from buns to herring!
Our journey will take you to local favorite culinary spots, starting with a 17th-century bakery with stunning flaky pastries. After sampling Danish buns, we'll stroll through central Copenhagen and discuss why the city was founded thanks to herring. Then we'll head to Torvehallerne Market, where you can try fishcakes with a unique sauce and appreciate the king of Danish cuisine—smørrebrød. Along the way, I'll invite you to a small picnic with a glass of wine and sample several local hard and soft cheeses, often served at the royal table.
Danish Secrets with a Hygge Sauce.
In addition to culinary discoveries, you'll enjoy a vibrant walk through the city's historic districts, where the spirit of old Copenhagen is particularly vivid. You'll explore cozy streets and local landmarks, while learning the most fascinating facts about Danish life firsthand. We'll discuss the Scandinavian phenomenon of hygge, the locals' preferences, and, at tastings, we'll explore the distinctive features of Danish cuisine.
