Amid battlements and the 15th‑century St Michael’s Chapel, you’ll learn how this fortress symbolised royal power. After a scenic drive and an overnight in the alpine town of Füssen, day two brings you to King Ludwig II’s Neuschwanstein Castle, perched on a rock ledge above the Pöllat Gorge near Füssen. Although it was never finished, its towers, ornate interiors and mountain setting make this romantic palace a storybook finale to your adventure.
